Like any true Woodpreneur, Connor Crook of Diamond Back Toolbelts set out to improve the workspace of laborers everywhere. With hard work, perseverance, and a knack for drawing an audience in, Connor helped to grow Diamondback Toolbelts from a garage operation into a premium and high-end toolbelt line that ships across the country. During this talk, find out what tools and talents he used to help Diamondback Toolbelts achieve the potential he saw in its product all along.
Diamondback Toolbelts was founded in 1992 by Jim Skelton; a master carpenter, mountain climber and teacher, Alaskan ski instructor and Hawaiian windsurfer. After a disabling Jobsite injury in 1992, Jim Skelton had a vision - to combine the best technology from his Alaskan adventures, his love of windsurfing and his knowledge as a master carpenter to design a technically advanced tool belt system. Jim mined his knowledge of technical gear, textiles and outdoor equipment to design a toolbelt system that was rugged, efficient and also provided back support.
Jim’s design was built from lightweight nylon rather than leather and incorporated revolutionary ideas like the hammer holster and padded support belt. Over fifteen years he made a wide array of designs and marketed his product through a mail-order catalog and small advertisements in Fine Homebuilding magazine. Jim and his small team handmade each belt and shared tips with his customers over long phone calls.
Today we continue the vision of innovation and technological advancement as we expand from tool belts to a full line of Jobsite gear including tool vests, carriers and storage, and a full line of Jobsite clothing to make you more comfortable and efficient on the job site.
Diamondback’s complete line of belts, pouches, and accessories are now available in over two dozen retail locations throughout the world. Each belt is still handmade in the United States, and we still love talking to our customers on the phone.
Over the years we continuously met hard-working, creative, immensely talented people that are invested in making their communities better. Our tool belts are designed to be a vehicle to connect people and match the quality by which they conduct their work. Our toolbelts last over two decades, each with its own story and lore. Like the people who wear them, they are built for legends.
