Mark Hamelin is a graduate of Fanshawe College with a degree in Motive Power Technology. He spent 20 years in the food industry where his Company Upper Canada Malt Manufactured and supplied liquid and dry sweeteners to the food and beverage industry.
Mark is now the owner of Aqua Timber, which is located in Midland, Ontario and is considered to be one of the pioneers in the underwater logging industry with many years of experience recovering sunken timber from the bottom of lakes and rivers throughout North America. Mark's eco-friendly approach to business reclaiming timbers and thereby preserving today's forest has been emulated by large and small companies around the world who are looking to produce a greener footprint on our planet.
Marks' strong technical background has provided the basis for his new Company RF Kiln Tech Limited, which manufacturers' Radio Frequency Vacuum kilns used in the drying and heat-treating of lumber products.
Mark has also acted as an industry consultant for several years and currently provides equipment, training, and ongoing technical support to small and medium-sized lumber processors.
Additionally, Mark is a collaborator with Penn State University working with PSU and the USDA-APHIS where his equipment and extensive background in Radio Frequency Technology is assisting in the development of a heat-treating program for Invasive species that are found in wood packaging material.
